    Edith Tolkien Luthien and
    John Ronald Ruel Tolkien Beren!
    they look happy in this pic.. i guess Luthien and Beren truly found thier happiness...

  16. I'm glad there is finally a picture of John adn Edith Tolkien. They do remind me of Beren and Luthien in this picture, and Tolkien got the idea for that story from himself and his wife.

  22. nice picture... hardly anyone actually apreciates the author of the books. im soo glad there is a picture iof the author and they look cute.. so im giving the picture a six.... oh no!!! i can only give it a five! $^^%* ohhh well. a 5+ then!

  57. Im sick of the NEW Lord of the Rings fans. A bunch of Legolas loving movie clip watching lossers. LOTR is MUCH BIGGER than just 10 hours worth of footage.

    PS: Tolkien rules and his little lady seems sweet too. :-)

  61. I love this picture of J.R.R. Tolkin. I think that it is very sweet! I wonder how many children. They had. Yes Vienya81 they are both British. And Mr. Tolkien was born in Africa. While his wife was born somewhere in Britian or England. But, I am not really sure.

    Besides that I think that this picture should have a5 no doubt. Because, to me I think that this great kind man should have something dedicated to him. So a 5 it shall be to a friend and a wonderful person who lived int his world.Vienya81

  63. Yes, jrenckly, I agree with you. Unfortunately there are a lot of ignorant and fatuous people in the world who don't appreciate brilliant writers (and changers of the world) like Tolkien, but instead like to "fret their hour upon the stage" (as Shakespeare said), fawning over Legolas-movie pictures, and other virtually worthless things.

    It's the sad truth, and we must ignore them and deal with it.

    This picture is lovely. Tolkien & Edith...Beren & Luthien. What a beautiful picture and thought, that "renders me speechless with emotion." (as Dr. Zhivago once said).
