I really like how the artist has portrayed Luthien, although I always thought she had more clothes on. But I think the 'magic' of her dance was captured well.
The rest I don't really care for. Artistically I think it's done well but in my opinion Melkor's hall was more dull and less abstract. The abundance of iron is accurate in my mind though, iron seems to be the metal of choice for Dark Lords. Also the Silmarill's are too elongated, I always pictured them in the shape of an octagon.
Wasn't it a ' Light like that of a glowing moon ' that surrounds elves? They also wear more clothes, to my knowledge, at least. Thrones pretty interesting, if a bit dull.

Personally, I really like Luthien. I also agree with the comments on the clothing. Elves seem very conservative.
On thing I don't like though, is Morgoth's Face. Its all wrinkly. I mean, yeah hes old and has been through alot and all, but hes an Anuir. He shouldn't look so aged. I always liked John's Howe depiction of Morgoth, as a big man who's Iron Crown was covering his face, so you couldn't see his face, Morgoth seemed like the kind of person to hide his face.
And, also, I also agree with the Silmaril deal. To me they should not have been so elongated.
But, its a really good picture nonetheless.

I didn't think elves were that bright, though. I agree with the silmaril stuff. I thought there wasn't that much detail in Morgoth's place there, and that Luthien had more clothes on, too. Gota love the picture, though.

It takes a lot of guts to depict Morgoth and this is original and deserves praise. The Silmarils shape was never described so how the Hell you can criticise without proof is astonishing. Another case of over cynical and fickle so called "Tolkien Fans".
Well done indeed to the artist.

Why does Luthien looks so bright and blue? And what happened to Morgoth, he looks like a mummyfied faraon from the ancient egypt. And his crown...
It's nice drawings but not Tolkien.

Luthien looks awesome! The Iron Crown looks great. Morgoth should be bigger but its still a great pic.

This is a very difficult subject.....elven princess, dark lord (for Legolasismyman - Morgoth is Sauron's original boss!, an immortal),
silmarils, etc.......there is no way it could please everybody.
Personally I have no problem with the way any of these have been portrayed.
The thing that looks completely out of place is the wolf, Corcoroth.
He should be massively bigger than that. *LOL*
Still, it's a masterpiece. Deserves a 6.

There is no 'magic' in it.
Ant Luthien did't dance before Morgoth...

The only problems I have are the same as Gwindor. This is the best picture of both Luthien and Morgoth I have seen so far.

It's a great image from Blind Guardian's album Nightfall on Midle Earth. But i agree with singingelf it looks a bit egiptian.

Luthien looks very magical and elvish! Just love her. Morgoth is ok but I agree with people who has said that it`s too much..well, stuff in Morgoth`s palace(cave, tomb, whatever it`s called). It should maybe be darker...
But, it`s a great painting!
