It's a good picture, but I don't think of Boromir looking like that. I may not be a thorough reader when it comes to descriptions, but I thought Boromir looked younger. Additionaly, this shows Boromir to be stern, but I imagine Boromir to be more liveley. Maybe if he didn't seem like a small person and he had a large grey beard, it could be Strider (a.k.a. Aragorn).

Boromir was never lively, he was always proud and had a degree of sterness to him. He was a serious man.
Council of Elrond, Chapter 2 of Book 2:
"And seated a little apart was a tall man of fair and noble face, dark-haired and grey-eyed,proud and stern of glance".
Tokien's description of Boromir.

Boromir was not young, I always imagined him to be about the same age as Aragorn(or look the same age as him)

I am extremely pleased with the casting for Boromir, he looks the perfect person to play him.

And considering that this is a portrait of the actor playing Boromir, by a fan and not an artist, I give this person a 5.

In Appendix B of The Return of the King, the timeline states that Boromir was born in TA 2978. This would make him age 40 at the time of the War of the Ring (TA 3018).

Aragorn was 87 at the time of the War of the Ring, being of the race of Numenor. (Born TA 2931)

Great painting from a great photo.

The picture may not be an artists' work, but I think it is beautiful! The colors and accents really bring out his features (whether or not they match Tolkiens' discription perfectly or not) Its amazing!:) Great job!!!

I think you did a beautiful job of capturing his likeness and
expression! There is pride, sternness, and even a bit of
arrogance in his face. It makes me think of the moment in
the movie when he had just found out who Aragorn was and rejected him as heir to the throne of Gondor.

Also, very good artisticly.

This is a grand peice. I love seeing emotion captured in a painting. One of the reasons Baroque is my favorite period in art. You captured his glower. Its fantastic.

And I firmly agree with other fems on this list, Sean Bean is just yummy. I have seen him in some passing bbc piece and he caught my eye there. He does the brooding melancoly well and then has this amazing smile, like sunlight breaking through clouds.

but he never really was.
Ok, you all must know the drill by now, but for you who don't I'll take you through it step by step.
1. Praise the artist
Anna, I always enjoy viewing your work, you are SO talented! You capture the every essence of life and emotion in your portraits. Keep it up!
2. Apply a small amount of critisism
For your talent level, you should really start doing more
original portraits. I'll admit that Sean Bean was amazing as Boromir, but is he the Boromir that thrives in your mind? You can only be impressed with so many portraits of an actor, but you can always be impressed by the work of someone's imagination.

Cheers,

I have tried my hand at painting portraits in oil; is this oils or acrylic? Its brilliant and so life-like. An excellent piece of work, must have taken you ages to do. The facial expression and features, including the detail, you must have a world of patience. I must be honest and say I sometimes get tired of doing a pic and end up leaving it for ages before I finish it. How long did this painting take you? You have a great talent, for pencil and paints.

I actually like this better than your other boromir drawing which currently sits at the top of the list, so I'll give this a five, and hopefully (the pencil scetch is rated only 1/100th higher) my vote could make it pass it.

as you made both (great job, by the way!) i'm pretty sure you'll be ok if this one replaces your other boromir drawing.
