It's a good picture, but I don't think of Boromir looking like that. I may not be a thorough reader when it comes to descriptions, but I thought Boromir looked younger. Additionaly, this shows Boromir to be stern, but I imagine Boromir to be more liveley. Maybe if he didn't seem like a small person and he had a large grey beard, it could be Strider (a.k.a. Aragorn).
Boromir was never lively, he was always proud and had a degree of sterness to him. He was a serious man.
Council of Elrond, Chapter 2 of Book 2:
"And seated a little apart was a tall man of fair and noble face, dark-haired and grey-eyed,proud and stern of glance".
Tokien's description of Boromir.
Boromir was not young, I always imagined him to be about the same age as Aragorn(or look the same age as him)
I am extremely pleased with the casting for Boromir, he looks the perfect person to play him.
And considering that this is a portrait of the actor playing Boromir, by a fan and not an artist, I give this person a 5.

In Appendix B of The Return of the King, the timeline states that Boromir was born in TA 2978. This would make him age 40 at the time of the War of the Ring (TA 3018).
Aragorn was 87 at the time of the War of the Ring, being of the race of Numenor. (Born TA 2931)
Great painting from a great photo.

The picture may not be an artists' work, but I think it is beautiful! The colors and accents really bring out his features (whether or not they match Tolkiens' discription perfectly or not) Its amazing!:) Great job!!!

they picked a good actor for the part of Boromeir. the picture is very good artistically speaking, I think I'll print it out and put it on my wall with the rest of my LOTR posters!!

I think you did a beautiful job of capturing his likeness and
expression! There is pride, sternness, and even a bit of
arrogance in his face. It makes me think of the moment in
the movie when he had just found out who Aragorn was and rejected him as heir to the throne of Gondor.
Also, very good artisticly.

It looks so real. Good job on the shadowing and details. It really looks like the movie Boromir.

I like the richness of the colours.
:)
(I'm sorry that larger portrait you did is somehow lost in the gallery - I found it once when we could still view art by the artist's name - it needed about five or six votes to get onto the main boards - maybe you should post a link in the Art forums?)

i really have to congratulate you for this!!!, is it paint?, im trying to paint myself but i?m not so good as you.I think u must not pay atention of wht people say like "the eyes are not well or ...etc", it is indeed a very good job. the people that tell you those things envy you. We can??t not expect things to be perfect, because nothing that we?ll do is gonna be. I love your art, because it is realistic but at the same time it has a very unique touch.

I think it is safe to say that the wonderful and talented artist of this picture must be obsessed with Sean Bean / Boromir. I can't say that I blame her.
The details are lovely.

I'm sorry folks, but if you think this person is not an artist then what constitutes art to you? it doesnt matter if someone does it professionally (as i do) or amateur.. this person is still an artist, and i bet you anything they are making money out of it....
she has done paintings all over the web, just type in her name and you will come up with pics of all sorts of actors... gary oldman is one other.
some of you are so harsh on the artwork in here! can YOU draw like that?

Best one I've seen drawn of Sean Bean

This is a grand peice. I love seeing emotion captured in a painting. One of the reasons Baroque is my favorite period in art. You captured his glower. Its fantastic.
And I firmly agree with other fems on this list, Sean Bean is just yummy. I have seen him in some passing bbc piece and he caught my eye there. He does the brooding melancoly well and then has this amazing smile, like sunlight breaking through clouds.
nice color and composition
but he never really was.
Ok, you all must know the drill by now, but for you who don't I'll take you through it step by step.
1. Praise the artist
Anna, I always enjoy viewing your work, you are SO talented! You capture the every essence of life and emotion in your portraits. Keep it up!
2. Apply a small amount of critisism
For your talent level, you should really start doing more
original portraits. I'll admit that Sean Bean was amazing as Boromir, but is he the Boromir that thrives in your mind? You can only be impressed with so many portraits of an actor, but you can always be impressed by the work of someone's imagination.
Cheers,
~*Idril*~
He looks like he did right after Leggy yelle dat him during the council
Great job!
The lighting and color are astounding, and the proportions aren't off at all from what I can see with my beginner's eye.
This is wonderful! You are so talented!
Arien
It's very good, but when you look at it in deatail there's something funny about the size of his shin and stuff
I've managed to do decent stuff in pencil, but never so well in color. It captures rather the essence of Boromir too, I think. This one should be number one.
.
The expression in those eyes is great, almost looks like Denethor in RoTK.
I have tried my hand at painting portraits in oil; is this oils or acrylic? Its brilliant and so life-like. An excellent piece of work, must have taken you ages to do. The facial expression and features, including the detail, you must have a world of patience. I must be honest and say I sometimes get tired of doing a pic and end up leaving it for ages before I finish it. How long did this painting take you? You have a great talent, for pencil and paints.
Boromir has always been my favorite character, and you've captured him perfectly well.
Awesome!
Great use of color. Boromir is my favorite Man of Middle Earth. I can't think of another artist who has done him so well.
Nice, very nice
Mighty good texture
Beautifull colours
Awesome
It's an awesome picture! I wish I could draw like that...
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that's right!
Thats really good! ![]()
5/5
very good!! ![]()
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.
That is all I have to say. Amazing.
You must be a professional artist; if not you should be. This is wonderful!
Impressive. Nothing to criticize here. (Not that I always feel the urge to criticize . . . )
Wow! I'm impressed how beautiful this looks! Great Job!
Oh my gosh, this one of the most incredible works of art I've seen! The talent artist, Anna Baldassarre, is one of the BEST artists ever! The color in this picture is amazing, and the realistic detail is flawless! I wish I could create art this good, I'm so jealous!
this is incredible! you realy succeeded in capturing sean bean (who-and im pretty sure even the most hard core purists will not argue-IS Boromir!!).
I actually like this better than your other boromir drawing which currently sits at the top of the list, so I'll give this a five, and hopefully (the pencil scetch is rated only 1/100th higher) my vote could make it pass it.
as you made both (great job, by the way!) i'm pretty sure you'll be ok if this one replaces your other boromir drawing.
GREAT JOBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
I think I agree with everyone who has a post for this: WHOA...
Can't there be a "6" rating?
I enjoyed the beautiful picture- you're very good!
It's so good! There's so much expression in his eyes! I love it!
IT LOOKS GREAT... JUST LIKE BOROMIR!!
AND BELIEVE ME I HAVE ENOUGH PICTURES OF THAT MAN TO KNOW!!! BOROMIR ROCKS!!
my hats off to the one who did this
You go girl! I especially like the colors and how they contrast with one another.
good
Very nice work from a photo of Sean Bean as Boromir. I'd love to see some of your original work as well.
who the hell could drawc like that??? well i guess her name is...Anne Baldassarre!!! and she wins the gold metal for.... amazing picture number...i dont know! hehe. GREAT JOB!!
I love this portrait, the eyes caught my attention even from the thumbnail pic!
I think it looks like great. Plus, This protrait fits the produces vision of Boromir hence Sean Bean getting the role. Remember in the books, all the characters are a lot older. This is still a beautiful picture.
Man, Anna's pictures are really amazing. Just in case you guys were wondering, here is her website: http://www.annabaldassarre.it/
Please go to it and look around.
