I know this is way off topic, but does anyone know anything about female Dwarves? I've only read about fathers and sons, never mothers or daughters. Does anyone know if Tolkien ever mentions them in any of his writings? oh, sream4frodo, check out the Silmarillion and you'll find this map.

This map is from one of the Earlier Ages (First to be exact) of Middle Earth. Assuming you've looked in the books of LotR, I suggest picking up The Silmarillion. It's the complete history of Middle Earth, and Tolkien's life's work. A majority of the stories told in it come from this age.

I loved the Silmarillion. And for those wondering, this is a map of Middle Earth in the first age. By the time that LOTR takes place, this land has long been destroyed & is at the bottom of the sea. So the only features you would be able to reconize are the mountians on the far right which are the Blue Mt.
