  1. but I still like it. Something about the people that doesn't quite trick my trigger, but the forest is good so I think a four is in order.

  3. I don't quite remember what the situation is between Eol and Aredhel when this scene takes place, but I think that they (in the picture) show a good amount of emotion and feeling. The forest, I agree, is well done. I like very much.

  5. I like the way Nasmith depicted Eol. I wouldn't have thought of the character in that way but I like it.

  11. Doesn't that portrait take place in Tolkien's "The Silmarillion?

Anyway, I guess the pic is good. The colors are vivid, I like that, but the people.... : I don't know. They sure don't fit my image. Anyway, 3's the vote.

  13. I'm surprised at how closely they resemble my conception of those two (yep, they are in the Silmarillion). Good to see such a kind portrayal of Eol, too. Poor guy gets worked over pretty hard, and you'd think he and Aredhel would have gotten on better. Anyway...cool forest.

  17. Interesting how people imagine characters totally differently. I would say that Eol is far better portrayed than Aredhel. He looks kinda creepy. Very cool.

  19. How very fortunate I feel to
have an artist as gifted as
    Ted Nasmith depicting Tol-
    kien's world for me. Although
    I like some paintings more
than others, all take me away
    to someplace special, and I'm
    truly thankful for the trip.
Love the lady's ears; bet her
    face is fair (would rather
    have seen her's than Eol's!).
    And those trees! Wonderful!

  35. okay, yes, Eol and Aredhel, a match made in Aman :s not really. Know who Eol reminds me of? That weird white guy from the Princess Bride that's talking to Westly you know the 'Pit of Dessspair' guy. anyway, enough of that. good work.

  37. This is one of my favourite chapters in the Silmarillion, and I think Nasmith hasn captured everything: the magic of the forest, the beauty of Arhedel and you can see on Eöl that his dark inside...

  48. WOW! This is one of the neatest paintings I've seen by Ted Nasmith so far! I really like this one, especially the way it's presented. The door leading into the side of the hill is cool, and I like the way Eol and the beautiful elven woman are drawn! Eol looks very sneaky and villianous, but I think his outfit looks great! He also reminds me a little of Raistlin from the "Dragonlance" fantasy series, because of his sneaky face and silvery hair. The elf woman looks lovely and very elegant (like elves should), plus, I also like her pretty robe/dress as well. Altogether, this is one of my many favorite paintings by Nasmith!

  50. I agree with most of the comments, picture's cool, forest, Eol's a bit less dark than I imagined, but people tell me that I have a crazy imagination. But I have to say that, as far as I remember Silmarilion, Aredhel was blond...? Don't know for sure it has benn a year since I read it for the last time and I read it only 3 times, so... Not too high grade from me...
