This picture was in the 1976 Tolkien calendar.
(The first calendar I ever bought)
It was the first published image I saw of her after reading the books. I thought it was beautiful then
and I still do.
I've seen other lovely pictures of her in the gallery
but, in my opinion, this is the very best one.
Nice picture; the Hildebrant Brothers have always done great pictures!
I am going to STRIVE to get my pictures as good as ones like these!!

Another fav of mine. Galadriel looks monumental, imposing, awe-inspiring. One really gets the sense of what she meant by "All shall love me and despair!" Simply fab.

I have always liked how they have depicted the female characters. Very much to my own way of thinking.

Now THAT is Galadriel, in all her arcane majesty and beauty. As I went through the Hildebrandt brothers art, I kept thinking "the colours are perfect but the form concepts are off target". Yet here, they have proved my faith in their ability. She is perfect.
Now, why aren't their other Galadriels so magnificent?
;)

Among my favorite renditions of the "Lady of the
Golden Wood".

I think it's ugly. Ugly is usual for the Hildebrandt brothers.

She's everything an Elf Queen should be!

She doesn't exactly look like an ageless elf queen, more like a young nymph, but I really don't care. This is exactly how I'd want Galadriel to look like!!

This one is much better than The Gift of Galdriel.
There's just something about the colors, I wish I could paint like this...

She is my second fav. character (after Legolass) and it is soooo hard to find a decent pic of her. She looks really regal and beautiful!

Would have got a 5 if it hadn't been for the fir trees and the banner in the grass. Why aren't Frodo and Sam there?

Love it the more I look at it - someone mentioned a nymph? I agree, like a virgin awaiting a sacrifice. However, I still like it for what it is - art.

Galadriel is my favorite character. This picture shows her exactly the way I imagined her. It's soooo beautiful.

Galadreil's supposed to have a sadness about her.

No, i am not another Legolas freak invading your sincere discussions of Tolkien's works... i just think he's a hottie! :)
And i really do think that Galadriel is so much more like she should be in this pix.... in the movie Cate Blanchett is... not so pretty :) but she's cool

Galadriel had a really cold personality in the films. This has an inner colour of gold.

The Galadriel in the movie is sooo old and crinky.
Why can't the Galadriel in the movie be like this pic?

- very nice!
Directly from the descriptions given by Tolkien ... this picture has beauty, sorrow, and hope.
Also, there is a hint of underlying mystery, royalty and great power!
Great work!

This has always been one of my favorite paintings! It just captures the essence of Galadriel I think. The colors in this copy are a little strange - the one I have has Frodo in it and the colors are not so bright and cartoon looking.

I agree with some people that said it was beautifull but it really didn't look a lot like her. I think it is perfect in every way but I think she needed to look older and more wise in the eyess,or something. But otherwise, this is defidently the best Galadriel pic I have ever seen!!
I give you like 100%!!!
This Hildebrant painting of Galadriel is the GREATEST painting of Galadriel ever made! She is absolutely breathtaking, her dress looks so angelic and her hair is gorgeous! She almost looks like an angel. Her "goddess" face is drawn perfectly, and I especially love the sprouting daisies in the grass and the "treeish-looking" base of the magical fountain. They add such an enchanting touch to the picture, fantastic job!!!
See Frodo, when I put my hand up like this near Halley's Comet, it looks like I've got a big-ass ring. I can only do it every 87 years of course, but I always look forward to it.
I dunno Frodo - I got it off Elizabeth Taylor.
I find that in general pictures featuring characters from Tolkien (as opposed to places, battles etc.)tend to be pretty lousy. This is a rare exception.
...still my favorite depiction of her.
I think it's gorgeous! She is beautiful and looks like an Elf to me. I totally disagree with Inwe for calling it ugly. It's sick and wrong to say that unless you mean to say beautiful and give it a five. It' great art and looks much like Galadriel!
I'd give it a 101 if I could!
