"O Smaug the Tremendous"
"O Smaug the Mighty"
"Lord Smaug the Impenetrable"
Definetly a 5.
When I read the book, that is exactly how I imagined the room. Obviously, the artist connected with the book when he/she did the image. Or maybe, Tolkien was just verry good at describing the situation.

It looks like a photo of a scene set up by statues, figures, and props. It is bright and clear, and captures the scene and action.

"It is great to me," says my seven year old daughter. I cannot agree more. The Brother's Hildebrant strike again! And yes thery are great, and Tolkien is great at describing his very visual secondary world.

I think paintings by the Hildebrant brothers often lacks in emotion. Though they describe the situation with lots of details they often fail to convey the feel of the situation. This reasoning goes very well for this painting I think, and on a side note, that's not at all how I picture Smaug. Take a look at This painting. That's how Smaug should look like.

I agree with Dawi that the Hildabrant brothers focus more on getting tiny details when they should be conveying tolkien's emotions into the art piece. John Howe can't be beat and his interpretation of Smaug is much better.
