The Unknown Love - Poetry

The moonlight fell upon her cheeks
Where wet the tears still shone,
Above her head the stars were still
And made her feel so all alone.

Her love had left so long ago
In search of answers to the signs,
That plagued him sleeping or awake
In these dark and fearsome times.

Long she waited for some news
That Boromir the proud was safe,
But when his cloven horn was found
Her world became a hopeless place.

"Oh Boromir, Oh Boromir!
In dreams alone I walk with you,
The light of day I will not see,
For now my heart like your great horn
Forever will be split in two!"

She sang her song along the banks
Of the great River Anduin,
She plunged the knife into her breast
With one last cry she tumbled in.

The river opened up its arms
Encircled her in cold embrace,
Her face shone pale and still as stone
Her hair a twisted mass of lace.

The river carried her away
And she was seen no more again,
For now she walks with Boromir
No longer saddened and in pain.

Together now at last they are
In some faraway place so fair,
Happiness dwells in that bright space
With love and hope and no despair.

  13. I am usually not fan of fan poetry because most of it just isn't that good -but this piece is very much in the Tolkein style and that I like (he wan't the world's greatest poet either). When fan writing comes close in theme and style to the original yet maintains the originality of the author, then we have something viable, in my opinion. So this piece works for me

As far as Boromir not having a girlfriend, hey, it coulda happened.

  15. and very "Lord of the Rings-esque" in style. Writing a poem about Boromir's "lover" is very original. It's meloncholy tone and the story it told also reminded me of the Arthurian legends.

  51. as a big poetry fan i am, i can only say... IT'S GREAT! superbe! i love it! even though i'm NOT a fan of Boromir (Elessar is the one my heart will remain still!), this is a masterpiece... an dit even rhymes (which i haven't seen very often!)... it doesn't really matter if she was his wife or not,-- she was his soul-pair!! and the sadness makes it even more beautiful!
u should write some more... about Arwen and Aragorn, maybe...!

  57. Such a great poem, but so sad as well
I think it's really great that you wrote about Boromir.
It's something original that not many people write about, I mean even though all the love stories about Arwen and Aragorn, and all the sap about Sam and Frodo is absolutely brilliant, you get a bit sick of it after a while. I think a lot of us have been waiting for something like this. Very original, and different to anything we've ever seen before.
    Nice work Dimamarthiel.
