Rhys-Davies Rules Out Role In "Hobbit"

Speaking to Empire, he said -

"I've already been asked and to be honest with you, I wouldn't. I have already completely ruled it out. There's a sentimental part of me that would love to be involved again. Really I am not sure my face can take that sort of punishment any more."

When talking about his face, Rhys-Davies is referring to the many allergic reactions he had to Gimli's prosthetics, which took hours to put on every day and made his entire face swell. Essentially, he's opting out for health reasons.

This isn't something that should really worry many fans, seeing as Gimli wasn't even in the Hobbit.  Still, he might have been a nice addition for the second film, which is rumored to have some parts that help "bridge the gap" between the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit. All we have to wonder about now is who will play his father, Gloin?
