Viggo Mortensen as AragornBoth The Dominion Post and the Noldor Blog are reporting that Viggo Mortensen is currently in New Zealand, and more specifically is in talks with Hobbit director Guillermo Del Toro to play Aragorn.

While Aragorn makes no appearance in Tolkien's Hobbit, it certainly is conceivable that he could play a part in the extended 2-film version of The Hobbit. While I'm not the biggest fan of changing the original work to suit the film, it will definitley appeal to the mass audiences that want to see their favorite LOTR characters on the big screen again.

  1. I'ts been pointed out to me that the Dominion Post article is over a year old, so that's irrelevant. My NZ Noldor post stands though - The grapevine was abuzz with it.

But the dated newspaper report mistake was mine - my apologies for any confusion I caused.
