Hobbit Pre-production Getting an August Start?

Jack--our friend in New Zealand over at The Noldor Blog--is reporting that the "word on the street" is that The Hobbit will begin earnest pre-production in August.

While there's no hard data supporting this, it's a good bet Jack's got his ear to the ground and is hearing the rumblings, considering his day job puts him in touch with a lot of the places used to film The Lord of the Rings.
