Lord of the Rings DVD to be Released in HD in 2006

It's now being reported at CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, that The Lord of the Rings DVDs will be released in HD (high-definition).

Few details have been released... but I can only imagine what the LOTR DVDs would look like in high definition. And I'd think they'll release other extras as well.

I just finished watching the extended edition of The Fellowship of the Ring tonight (on an HD projector), and it still left quite a bit desired, knowing what true HD looks like. This should be SWEET!
